Battle royal games have been trending like crazy from Players Unknown Battlegrounds (PUBG) to Fortnite and now we have Apex Legends. Battle royal has taken the world by storm, and it seems like everyone is trying to cash out by jumping on to the battle royal train. A new title to the battleground scene is Apex Legends. Apex Legends was developed by Respawn Entertainment, published by Electronic Arts (EA), and released in february of 2019. After only a week of Apex Legends being available for download the game has over 25 million individual players. Could this be the game that finally kills Fortnite?

Apex Legends is a free-to-play, first person, hero based, team focused battle royal shooter game. Apex Legends takes place in the Titanfall world taking place 30 years after Titanfall 2. You can find many of your favorite weapons from Titanfall 2 in Apex Legends. But do not worry this will not replace Titanfall 3.Apex Legends may just be another battle royal but it puts its own unique twist on the genre, incorporating things such as the legends. The legends adds more of a team focused aspect into Apex than other battle royals have. You can either play as a support such as Lifeline or Pathfinder, a defensive character like Caustic or Gibraltar, or you can play as an offensive character like Bangelor, Wraith, and Mirage. Each one of the characters all have different abilities to complete various tasks for your team. Having a wide variety of abilities on your team can increase your chances of winning. The movement in Apex Legends is very smooth and different than what we have seen so far in a battle royal. You can slide down a hill, zipline up a hill, you can fly through the air, or run up walls.

EA has released a roadmap for Apex Legends showing us what is to come in the near future. Apex Legends is expected to have new maps, new weapons, and new characters by the end of 2019. With the addition of new updates Apex Legends will draw in more and more people and will grow in popularity. Apex Legends is a very unique addition in the battle royale genre and is sure to have great success. with the addition of new content on it's way the game will bring in a lot of new players. The uniqueness of the game will make it stand out from all the other battle royales out there.
